Sunday School (K-12) is held from early September to mid May at 9:15 AM on Sundays.
"God Squad" for youth (Grades 1- 5) Meets Sundays at 2 PM.
Youth Confirmation Eighth grade students are eligible to begin the two-year "Faith Inkubators" confirmation program. Meets every Wednesday during the school year, 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Contact the church office (718) 981-3151. Vacation Bible School A one-week summer program of Bible stories, crafts, recreation and singing, for children 4 years old through sixth grade. Sunday Morning Bible Study The Pastor leads an adult bible study during the Sunday school hour at 9:30 AM, between worship services. The study meets in the "fireside room." These sessions are scheduled at various times through-out the year and are held on Sundays at 9:15 AM (check with the Church Office). New Member Class The pastor teaches a course, exploring the basics of biblical and church doctrine. The class is designed for those wishing to become members or for those wanting to review what Christians believe. Open dialogue, questions and conversation are encouraged.
Every Wednesday (except July & August) the men of the congregation meet at 8:30 AM for a full breakfast, followed by Bible study led by the pastor. No reservations are necessary. Just come.
Zion has a strong tradition of home Bible studies. Currently a group meets on the second Tuesday or each month at Alvine Sorensen's home. Call her at (718) 447-4928 for information.
Our Prayer Group meets Mondays at 10:30 AM.
A social group of women who support various ministries of the church. Meets on the fourth Thursday or each month, 1:30 PM. Contact Alvine Sorensen (718) 447-4928. Ladies Aid, sponsor of many worthwhile projects, meets Thursdays at 1:30 PM.
Women Involved in Crocheting, Knitting and Sewing meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 10:30 AM. Contact Bunny Lewand (718) 761-8686.
Zion Association of Retired Persons Meets the third Thursday of the month (except July & August) at 11 AM. Contact Bunny Lewand (718) 761-8686.
Our choir sings at the 10:30 Worship Service (September thru mid June), as well as several special events through out the year. They hold practice on Thursdays at 7:00 PM. We also have a Chapel Choir (1st-5th grades) and a Junior/High School Choir.
Our Church has a long history with Scouting. The current schedule is: * Brownies - Tuesdays 4:00 PM * Girls Scouts - Fridays 4:00 PM * Boy Scouts - Fridays 7:00 PM
A New York State certified Christian pre-School for children ages 3 & 4. Our Preschool program was started in 1985 and thanks to the dedication of the Preschool staff, it is one of the most successful programs on Staten Island. The program prepares the children for Kindergarten, while providing a Christian background for both three and four year olds. Two day, three day and five day programs meet in the mornings 9:00 to 11:30 AM and afternoons, 1:00 to 3:30 PM. Contact the director, Ms. Cathy Westlye (718) 981-3623.
